Preview:Bristol City v Blackburn Rovers

Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers will both be bidding to maintain winning starts to the new Barclays Women’s Championship season when they meet at The Robins’ High Performance Centre this afternoon.

Both sides won their first games of the season 1-0 last weekend with Bristol City defeating Coventry United at the Butts Park Arena and Blackburn Rovers seeing-off Sheffield United at Ewood Park.

Bristol City head coach Lauren Smith will be hoping that her team can mount a greater push for promotion this season after temporarily flirting with the title race last term. One player to watch is forward Jess Woolley who netted Bristol City’s winning goal in the last game against Coventry United.

Blackburn Rovers could include latest signing Shanell Salgado in their squad for the first time after she completed a move to the club yesterday. Manager Gemma Donnelly could keep faith with the team which recorded a victory over Sheffield United last weekend. Youngsters Chloe Williams and Niamh Murphy will be hoping for the opportunity to get more minutes after coming off the bench against The Blades.

The Barclays Women’s Championship fixture between Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers kicks-off at 3pm.
