Preview: Liverpool v London City

Liverpool will play a home fixture for the first time in six weeks when they face struggling London Bees on Sunday.

The last time these two sides played each other, Liverpool won 3-0 at The Hive back in September. Tomorrow’s meeting was originally set to take place in January but the game was postponed due to a COVID-19 incident in the home camp.

Liverpool are currently fourth in the FA Women’s Championship table while London Bees are ninth and under the interim management of first team coach Sian Osmond following the recent departure of Lee Burch.

The last time Liverpool played an FA Women’s Championship fixture was three weeks ago when they drew 2-2 with Charlton Athletic. They will be looking to end a run of three games without a win against a London Bees side when lost 5-0 at Crystal Palace last time out. Liverpool were due to play Coventry United a fortnight ago but that match was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Prenton Park.

Rachel Furness, Jade Bailey, Becky Jane and Ashley Hodson have all regained full fitness for Liverpool while Mel Lawley also returns following suspension. New signing Ceri Holland is pushing for her full debut. It is unknown whether want-away forward Rinsola Babajide will return to the squad.

Liverpool’s joint-highest goalscorers in the FA Women’s Championship this season are Furness and Babajide with five goals while Charlie Estcourt, Georgia Robert and Sophie McLean are top scorers for The Bees with two goals.

Liverpool’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against London Bees is scheduled to kick-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon and will be available for fans to watch live on LFCTV GO, YouTube and the LFC Women Facebook and Twitter accounts.
