Preview: Liverpool v Lewes

Liverpool will be hoping to close the gap on FA Women’s Championship leaders Durham when they face Lewes at Prenton Park this afternoon.

The Reds currently find themselves in second position in the league table, just two points behind The Wildcats. This afternoon’s opponents Lewes are sixth after taking 10 points from a possible 18.

With nine points collected from their last three games, Liverpool come into the game in great form. Meanwhile, Lewes have won all three of their home games but they are yet to record a maximum points return on the road.

Liverpool go into the game without goalkeeper Rylee Foster who was recently involved in a road traffic accident while Republic of Ireland international defender Megan Campbell is out with a long term injury. Forward Rianna Dean has also been a notable absentee in recent weeks. Attacker Leanne Kiernan is one to watch with three goals in her last two league games.

Lewes’ interim first team manager Craig Gill takes charge of his second match on Merseyside. The Rookettes defeated a full-time Charlton Athletic side 2-0 at The Dripping Pan last time out with Paula Howells and Amelia Hazard getting the goals.

The FA Women’s Championship fixture between Liverpool and Lewes kicks-off at 12pm.
