Match Report: PNE Women 2 Haslingden Ladies and Girls 3

Preston North End Women lost for the first time this season, ending a seven-match unbeaten start to the campaign, with a 3-2 defeat to Haslingden Ladies and Girls.

Following four games unbeaten in pre-season, and seven points from a possible nine being taken from the first three league games, North End fell just short against Haslingden; last season’s runners-up in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One North.

Madison Hadley equalised after North End went behind in the first half, but the visitors pulled away in the second, with Freya Hunt’s late effort ultimately just a consolation.

In the first few minutes, Haslingden dominated possession, leaving PNE with plenty of defending to do.

Swift: “One Of Our Best Performances”

Lucy Swift said PNE Women’s 5-2 win against Bury FC Foundation was one of the team’s best displays of the season.

North End’s winning streak continued from the previous week's win against Accrington Stanley, with the more recent triumph over the Shakers sealing the Lilywhites’ progress in the Lancashire FA Women’s Challenge Cup.

Swift, who scored twice in the second half against Bury, was pleased with the performance both on an individual and collective level.

PNE Women 5 Bury FC Foundation Women 2

Preston North End Women produced a five-star display against Bury FC Foundation to progress to the next round of the Lancashire FA Women’s Challenge Cup.

PNE made it back-to-back wins after last weekend’s win against Accrington Stanley by beating the Shakers 5-2.

Goals from Freya Hunt and Olivia Askam in the first half were followed by a second half brace from Lucy Swift and a Katie Woodhead penalty, as things look to continue to fall into place nicely for the women’s team.
